Exodus, Chapter 30,  verses 12-16

12 “When you take al Lit sumcensus of the sons of Israelm Lit for their being musteredto number them, then each one of them shall give a ransom forn Lit his soulhimself to the LORD, when youo Lit musternumber them, so that there will be no plague among them when youp Lit musternumber them. 13 This is what everyone whoq Lit passes over to those who are musteredis numbered shall give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel is twenty gerahs), half a shekel as ar Lit heave offeringcontribution to the LORD. 14 Everyone whos V 13, note 1is numbered, from twenty years old and over, shall give thet Lit heave offering of the Lordcontribution to the LORD. 15 The rich shall not pay more and the poor shall not pay less than the half shekel, when you give theu Lit heave offering of the Lordcontribution to the LORD to make atonement forv Lit your soulsyourselves. 16 You shall take the atonement money from the sons of Israel and shall give it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may be a memorial for the sons of Israel before the LORD, to make atonement forw Lit your soulsyourselves.”
